Traditional braces vs. clear aligners
Traditional Braces
Metal or ceramic brackets bonded to the teeth, connected by a wire adjusted at regular intervals. The most reliable option for complex tooth movement and bite correction. Today’s brackets are significantly smaller and more comfortable than those from a decade ago.

Clear Aligners

Oral hygiene with braces
Orthodontic treatment creates additional challenges for oral hygiene. Brackets and wires trap food and plaque in areas that are difficult to clean. Patients in braces are at elevated risk for cavities and white spot lesions — permanently visible marks left when enamel decalcifies around a bracket. This is entirely preventable with diligent brushing and flossing.
